The Strategic Committee on E-Health met for the first time this week, chaired by Mr Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and Mr Frédéric Genta, Monaco’s Country Chief Digital Officer.

The purpose of the Committee, which has been established as part of the Government’s digital transition policy, is to set out broad guidelines in the field of e-health. It comprises representatives from the healthcare profession, hospitals, public and private insurance bodies, and the Government.

During the meeting, the Minister reiterated the Government’s desire to take concrete actions to develop e-health, such as publishing a directory of doctors, creating a secure medical messaging system, and introducing online appointment booking.

He stressed that if the efforts to develop e-health were to be successful, support from all involved in the healthcare sector and a continued focus on patients would be key. The work of the Steering Committee, which will lead to the introduction of the first e-health projects starting in 2019, was presented to members, who gave it their approval.
