The Palace Guards hosted 30 Cadets from the Alpes-Maritimes Gendarmerie for an awareness day on Saturday. The day began with a detailed presentation about the Palace Guards, covering human resources, techniques and protective infrastructure. They also had the opportunity to visit the Museum of the Princes of Monaco and their Guards, where they learnt about the history and role of the Palace Guards. Following these morning activities, they shared a lunch at the Moneghetti Barracks mess.

The afternoon was devoted to increasing the young people’s awareness of environmental and economic security issues, focusing on how to protect maritime areas. Through presentations from the Office Central de Lutte contre les Atteintes à l’Environnement et à la Santé Publique (OCLASEP, Central Office for Countering Crimes against the Environment and Public Health), the Maritime Police and the Economic Security Division, they gained a practical understanding of the role of the Gendarmerie in these areas. This initiative comes ahead of the United Nations Ocean Conference (UNOC 2025), which will be held in Nice in June 2025. Its theme will focus on the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans and marine resources.

To further their knowledge of these maritime issues, they explored the Oceanographic Institute, where they were able to learn about the challenges associated with protecting maritime areas.
