Mass in honour of Saint George, the patron Saint of the Police Department
On Wednesday 23 April 2025 at 10 am, the mass in honour of Saint George was held in the Church of St. Devota in the presence of Ms Charlotte Casiraghi, the patron of the Police Department and of representatives from Monaco’s highest institutions and French institutions.
The ceremony began with a short introduction by Mr Eric Arella, Police Commissioner.
The religious service was co-celebrated by His Excellency Msg Dominique-Marie David, Archbishop of Monaco, and Father Julien Gollino, the Police Department Chaplain.
After the mass, the ‘Police officer’s Prayer’, composed in 2022 for the 120th anniversary of the creation of the Police Department, was read by a police officer.
Celebrated annually on 23 April, Saint George Day is a highly symbolic date to pay tribute to law enforcement. An emblematic figure of courage and protection, Saint George embodies the fundamental values upheld by police departments in multiple countries.
