On Tuesday 29 May 2018, at a luncheon held at the Hôtel Hermitage, Marie-Catherine Caruso-Ravera, Director of Diplomatic and Consular Relations, received H. E. Ms. Modupe E. Irele, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nigeria;  H. E. Mr. Filip Vucak, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Croatia;  H. E. Mr. Thiep Nguyen, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and H.E. Mr. Buddhi K. Athauda, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sri Lanka, who presented their Letters of Credence to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince during the morning.

After a career in education, H. E. Ms. Modupe E. Irele joined State College, Pennsylvania, in 2001, where she held the posts of Programme Director and Special Assistant to the Executive Director at the World Campus.  She is the Founder and Chief Consultant of Key Learning Solutions and directs the professional development qualification programmes for the Cambridge International Examinations under the British Council.  She is also the author of numerous books on education.

H. E. Mr. Filip Vucak joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in 1992.  He was appointed Minister-Counsellor in 1995, then Minister Plenipotentiary at the Croatian Embassy in Paris.  He held the post of Ambassador of Croatia to Spain and later to the Holy See and the Order of Malta.  He was appointed Director of Cabinet and Senior Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister in 2016 and was promoted to Special Advisor to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign and European Affairs in 2017.

H. E. Mr. Thiep Nguyen moved up the ranks of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he became Deputy Director.  In 2002, he was appointed Counsellor at the Permanent Mission of Vietnam to the United Nations in Geneva.  In 2007, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director of the Europe II Department. He was appointed Ambassador of Vietnam to Austria in 2011, and the President of the Republic gave him the title of Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.  From 2014, he will serve as Director of Information Security at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

H. E. Mr. Buddhi K. Athauda is a specialist in Business Administration.  In particular, he held the post of Chairman and CEO of import-export and e-commerce companies in the United States.  He was Vice-President of Aelix Inc, where he was in charge of business development in Asia and the Middle East before joining the American company Iridium as regional manager for Asia.  He was Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Netherlands in 2011 and he is helping to promote bilateral financial and trade relations between the two countries.
