Diplomacy: accreditation of new ambassadors from Norway – Chile – Qatar – Indonesia
On Tuesday 5 November 2019, at a lunch held at the Hotel Hermitage, Laurent Anselmi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, received H.E. Ms Oda Helen Sletnes, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Norway; H.E. Mr Juan Salazar Sparks, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Chile; H.E. Mr Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar; and H.E. Mr Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia, who presented their credentials to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince during the morning.
H.E. Ms Oda Helen Sletnes joined the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1981. She was appointed Coordinator for Issues Relating to the Winter Olympic Games 1994, and subsequently served as Deputy Director General and Head of the European Affairs Section, Minister and Deputy Head of Norway’s Representation to the EU in Brussels, Director General of the Department of European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador and Head of Norway’s Representation to the European Union.
Promoted to the rank of Ambassador in 1990, H.E. Mr Juan Salazar Sparks has represented Chile in Australia, New Zealand, the European Union in Brussels, and Denmark. Over the course of his career, he has served as Director for Multilateral Policy, International Advisor to the Ministry of Finance, Director General of International Economic Relations, Director of the Andrés Bello-Acade Diplomatic Academy, and Director of Strategy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
A Minister Counsellor in the Department of American and European Affairs at the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha, from 2007 to 2012 H.E. Mr Sheikh Ali Bin Jassim Al-Thani was appointed Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the Kingdom of Belgium. He was the first Ambassador of the State of Qatar to be accredited to NATO and founded the group of friends of the Gulf countries in the European Parliament. He served as his country’s Ambassador to the Republic of Austria, Slovenia and Slovakia from 2017 to 2018.
H.E. Mr Arrmanatha Christiawan Nasir began his diplomatic career in 2001, and became Deputy Director for Agriculture and Raw Materials in 2006. He was subsequently appointed as Counsellor at the Republic of Indonesia’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations in New York. He then served as Deputy Head of the Economy, Finance and Development and as Chief of Staff to the Minister/Spokesperson at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
