The Agora, a new cultural venue for the Diocese in the Principality, was inaugurated this morning by H.S.H. Prince Albert II, accompanied by H.S.H. Princess Charlene and H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, in the presence of Msgr. Bernard Barsi, Archbishop of Monaco, H.E. Mr. Serge Telle, Minister of State, Mr. Patrice Cellario, Minister of Interior and Mr. Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs.

Situated in the centre of the Principality, above the Boulevard Princesse Charlotte, the Agora was designed and built as a venue for the entire Diocese.  The 1,800 m2 premises contain a chapel with seating for 30, five rooms with a capacity of eight to 130, nine offices, a library, an archive room and two guest bedrooms.

"It's a day of joy and happiness, because it's the culmination of many years of effort [ .. .]  The aim of the agora is to meet the needs of the 21stcentury.  This house of God will therefore be open to all, whether Christian or not, practicing or not," emphasised Bishop Barsi in his inaugural address.

As a follow up, the Diocese is holding an open day at the Agora tomorrow, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.  In addition to tours of the premises, many activities are planned:  choral songs, mini-concerts, an exhibition of photographs, films on the life of the diocese, and prayer sessions.
