The Innovation Commission for the construction and public works sector meets to discuss sustainable construction
On Wednesday, 14 February, public and private stakeholders from the construction industry joined Céline Caron-Dagioni, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, at the Innovation Commission for the Construction and Public Works Sector meeting to discuss 'sustainable construction'.
Using a 'sustainable construction' indicator to summarise the responses (from stakeholders in the construction industry) to a relevant questionnaire prepared by the Department of Public Works in partnership with the Collège des Ingénieurs, stakeholders contributed to discussions on the impact of construction projects on the environment, confronting them with the challenges of carbon neutrality, the circular economy, comfort, and climate resilience.
The discussions helped to identify ways in which action can be taken during all stages of a project, from design to deconstruction, to supplement the Sustainable Mediterranean Buildings Monaco (BD2M) initiative launched by the Government in 2018.
In line with previous meetings, the Minister praised the involvement of professionals and the importance of discussions on these issues, which aim to improve the population's quality of life and meet environmental challenges without sacrificing the comfort a modern built environment should also provide.
