The Principality is taking part in the United Nations 4th International Conference on Financing for Development which opened on 30 June 2025 in Seville with a speech by His Majesty King Felipe VI. In a visionary and unifying address, the King of Spain called for a thorough overhaul of development financing and reaffirmed his trust in cooperation and multilateralism.

In a global context of stagnant public development aid and growing debt, the ‘Sevilla Commitment’, adopted on the first day, aims to leverage development financing for justice, solidarity and impact. In another address, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stressed the urgency of mobilising public and private capital to assist in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. He said the current global debt system was “unsustainable”.

This conference is not about money. It is about investing in the future we want to build –– together”, he declared.

Monaco intends to renew its commitment to strong and effective solidarity, through an ambitious official development assistance policy for Least Developed Countries in the area of healthcare, food security, education and employment. The Principality’s message places partnerships and innovative measures at the heart of the collective efforts needed to achieve a more equitable future.
