World Children’s Day celebrations postponed

The annual World Children’s Day celebrations, which are organised by the Department of Education, Youth and Sport and were set to take place on 21 November this year, have been postponed due to developments in the health crisis.

This special day will be rescheduled at the Grimaldi Forum in the coming months, as soon as circumstances allow.

The entire team behind the film GOGO and the educational speakers who were scheduled to lead this charity event remain, alongside the Department of Education, Youth and Sport, fully engaged and ready to celebrate this important show of solidarity in the Principality in early 2021.

Despite the postponement, the Department of Education, Youth and Sport’s commitment to this vital cause means that an awareness campaign for pupils on the rights of the child will still be conducted in all of Monaco’s schools during the week of 16–20 November 2020.

In schools, pupils will be invited to watch the trailer for the film and to reflect on the inequalities in access to education faced by the world’s children, drawing on the incredible journey of the oldest schoolgirl in the world, aged 95.

They will also raise funds to be donated to humanitarian associations* working around the world to protect children’s rights, helping them to carry out their aid and solidarity missions. The money raised will also be used to provide assistance to pupils and young students living in the Principality and the surrounding area who are facing difficulties in their lives.

For more than 23 years, the mobilisation of young people and the broader educational community in Monaco has helped to provide support to nearly 35 foundations, associations and international programmes working with children on education, health and safeguarding issues.

Those who have booked seats for the film’s premiere can obtain a refund from the Grimaldi Forum box office.

*: Humanitarian associations partnering with World Children’s Day : Action Innocence, Casa Do Menor, Child Care Monaco, Children & Future, Digital Aid, Les Enfants de Frankie, Interactions & Solidarity, Mission Enfance, Mothers Of Africa, Soutien Entraide Bénévolat.
