Test Driving Electric Vehicles as Part of Jeun'Elec
As part of the 17th Jeun'Elec event, the Monaco Electric Vehicles Club (Club des Véhicules Électriques de Monaco), in association with the Department of Education, Youth and Sport and the Department of the Environment, offered Year 9 secondary school pupils and Year 11 high school pupils from the industrial course to take part in an electric vehicles test-drive day.
The event took place on Friday 5 February 2016 in the Chemin des Pêcheurs car park. All types of electric transport were presented – scooters, electric bikes, cars and go-karts. A road safety workshop led by the Police Department was also offered to young people who are likely to drive a motorbike or other two-wheeled motorised vehicle in the future.
The aim of this day event was to raise pupils' awareness of the issue of pollution caused by urban road transport and ways of reducing it.
Furthermore, Year 9 classes were introduced to the idea of intermodality at an educational session held prior to the test-drive day. At this event they were also invited to take part in a competition to create a "slogo" (a cross between a slogan and a logo) on the theme of electric mobility.
