Covid-19 : Preventive Closure of a Year 10 Class (Troisième) at the Institution François d’Assise – Nicolas Barré

Four pupils from a Year 10 class (Troisième) at the Institution François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré have tested positive for COVID-19.  These pupils have been removed from school in line with the procedure recommended by the Monegasque health authorities.

Among these four pupils, according to the initial findings of the epidemiological investigation, three could have been infected in the school environment after contact with a classmate who tested positive for COVID-19 following intra-family transmission.  The Prince's Government has therefore decided, as a precautionary measure, that all pupils in the class concerned must remain absent from school until Friday 19 February inclusive.

As from tomorrow, they will be provided with distance learning by their teachers, to ensure the continuity of their education.

The parents of the pupils concerned have been directly informed by the school management.  They are invited to watch for the appearance of any symptoms that are indicative of COVID-19 in their child and to isolate them as much as possible during their absence from school.

Pupils and staff from the educational community who are regarded as contacts will be offered PCR testing to ensure that they have not been infected.

Following a Year 11 class on Tuesday 9 February, this is the second class at the Institution to be excluded due to positive cases of COVID-19.  There is no link between the various cases detected in these two separate classes.

The Institution François d'Assise-Nicolas Barré continues to welcome pupils from other classes in compliance with the health measures in force.
