The new Collège Charles III: priority access for pedestrians
On Monday, 9 September, the start of the 2024/25 academic year will see the opening of the new Collège Charles III, which will provide state education from Year 7 - Year 10 (inclusive). The entrance to the building is located on the forecourt along Promenade Honoré II.
The forecourt is no longer accessible by vehicle, meaning cars won’t be able to stop directly outside the college. Therefore, pedestrians will have priority access, mainly via the Promenade Honoré II, which gives direct access to the collège entrance.
Monaco Bus Company (CAM) operates along Promenade Honoré II, providing convenient access.
- Line 4 serves the Honoré II stop (next to the Jardins d'Apolline).
- Lines 1, 2, 3, 6, X1, X3 and X4 serve Place d'Armes, accessible via the Place du Canton escalator.
In addition to these public transport routes, a 'school service’ reserved for pupils will serve the same stops in the mornings, evenings and at midday on Wednesdays. All the information (timetables, bus passes, etc) is available on CAM's website.
Pedestrians arriving from Fontvieille can access Promenade Honoré II via the shopping centre and Place du Canton.
From the Jardin-Exotique district and Boulevard de Belgique, pedestrian access will be via the Galerie des Salines lift and the new Wurtemberg footbridge.
Monabike users can continue to enjoy the bike-sharing scheme, with several stations available near the new college. The main station is located on the Promenade Honoré II (20 bike docks). Additional parking for other bikes and scooters will be available behind the college, near the Millenium building, at a later date.
Finally, a drop-off point for cars will be available inside the new Wurtemberg car park on Avenue de Fontvieille, with free parking for one hour.
Full information and a detailed map of the main access routes can be found on the college's website: https://college-charles3.gouv.mc/
