Anti-Pollution Exercise in the Area of Construction Work for the Offshore Extension
As part of the evaluation of the emergency response procedures established by the Bouygues Travaux Publics (Bouygues Public Works) company, an anti-pollution exercise took place on Friday morning, in the area of construction work for the offshore extension. The scenario for the exercise was an accidental spill of hydraulic oil at sea, near the Grimaldi Forum.
The unfavourable meteorological conditions chosen for the exercise required the two coves of the Larvotto beaches to be protected rapidly with floating booms to protect the bathing area, as provided for in the "PolMar" emergency plan in such an eventuality. On the instructions of the Marine and Airport Police Division (Technical Advisor on Pollution at Sea), the two booms stored at the end of the large sea wall were towed into place and deployed thanks to the nautical and human resources put in place by the Marine and Airport Police Division and Monaco Fire and Emergency Service.
The Monaco Ports Operating Authority and Bouygues Travaux Publics also took part in this exercise.
