5th Energy Transition Press Event

The 5^th Energy Transition Press Event was held yesterday afternoon at the Saint-Charles Eco-School. In her introductory speech, Minister of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development Marie-Pierre Gramaglia said: “We have assembled here today for our quarterly opportunity to meet those who are driving the Monegasque transition, who are often working in the shadows. This event allows us to showcase their commitment to our shared goal: becoming a zero-carbon country by 2050. It is thanks to professionals like you in the media that these actions are reported and brought to the attention of as many people as possible. Your support is invaluable to us in getting our messages out.”

Au programme de cette 5è édition, un focus sur :

• The Inter-School CLIIINK (glass recycling) challenge, led by the head teachers of the Saint-Charles and Révoires Eco-Schools, Caroline Fuentes Van Klaveren and Isabelle Biancheri, who also spoke more broadly about all of the eco-friendly measures adopted by the two schools;
• Making a commitment to the energy transition and ESG investing (sustainable investing) options from Monaco Asset Management, with a presentation by CIO Jeremy Genin;
• Grey water recycling in buildings from MonacoTech start-up Full/Firmus Grey Water Recycling System (FGWRS), presented by Pierre Magnes, Development Manager, and Alexia Fabiani, Project Manager
• The Quay electrification project and current ship electrification study, explained by Armelle Roudaut-Lafon, Director of Maritime Affairs, and Olivier Lavagna, Deputy Director-General of the Port Authority (SEPM).

Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, Director of the Mission for Energy Transition, also shared her favourite story with the press, that of Aurélie Fuentes, an employee in the Principality who, since Storm Alex, has been picking up rubbish on the beach every morning before going to work.

The idea behind these quarterly press events is to showcase those who are making the Principality’s energy transition a reality. We’ll see you again for the sixth event in February!
