3rd Energy Transition Meetings with the Press
The 3rd Energy Transition Meetings with the Press, held by the Mission for Energy Transition (MTE), were held today in the presence of Marie-Pierre Gramaglia, Ministry of Public Works, the Environment and Urban Development, who emphasised that "Thanks to you, members of the Press, the steps taken are being publicised in the media, enabling the whole of our Community, Monegasques, residents and employees, to find out about them. I would like to thank you, because the support and guidance of the media as our country moves towards a decarbonised society is essential."
Annabelle Jaeger-Seydoux, Director of the MTE, then went on to say "These meetings are important, because they enable us to find out about the actions undertaken in the Principality to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the three areas that emit the most greenhouse gases: energy, mobility and waste."
Four speakers gave presentations to journalists on their activities in the context of the Principality's energy transition:
* Benoîte de Sévelinges, Director of the Princess Grace Hospital, on the establishment's mobility plan;
* Céline Varenio, Head of the Monegasque Sanitation Company's (SMA's) Waste Sorting Ambassadors, on the "Zero Waste Family Challenge" that has been implemented;
* Guillaume Tarro-Tomà, Head of Global Services at SBM Offshore, on collecting cigarette ends from the Company's employees via the company EcoMégots; and
* Sébastien Duprat, Managing Director of the start-up Cycle Up, on the principle of the circular economy as concerns construction sites, in particular the Villa Carmelha (a State construction site).
The speeches were followed by a time of fruitful discussion with the media.
As a reminder, these regular meetings stem from a joint wish by H.E. the Minister of State and Marie-Pierre Gramaglia to pay tribute, every quarter, to those who work for Monaco's energy transition. The Minister brought the morning to a close by inviting the media to the next such event, to be held next June.
