The CHPG modernises its MRI scanner through the use of an artificial intelligence module

The Princess Grace Hospital (CHPG) is ramping up its digital revolution by integrating the SmartSpeed artificial intelligence module, which improves the performance of its MRI. This step forward significantly reduces examination time while increasing image resolution, resulting in faster and more accurate diagnoses.

This tool will be particularly beneficial in cases of suspected strokes during Magnetic Resonance Angiography (MRA) (to diagnose stenosis or occlusion of a distal arteriole) or ASL scans (to study cerebral parenchymal perfusion and detect areas of non-perfusion), as it reduces delays in stroke treatment and improves patient prognosis.

This innovative module was acquired and commissioned in December 2024 thanks to a generous donation from Mr Dmitry Rybolovlev and inaugurated on Wednesday 12 March in the MRI department.

"I would like to thank the Princess Grace Hospital and its director, Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, for allowing me to contribute to the modernisation of the CHPG's technical equipment. As a trained doctor with an interest in new technologies, I fully appreciate the importance of fast, accurate medical diagnosis. It’s wonderful that Monaco now has new equipment capable of detecting a range of illnesses, including some very serious ones such as strokes. I'm delighted to once again be able to help the Hospital Centre and the people of the Principality," says Mr Dmitry Rybolovlev.

"Thanks to this cutting-edge technology, and to the generosity of its donor, Mr Dmitry Rybolovlev, the hospital will be able to treat a greater number of patients by reducing waiting times for MRI scans and optimising the patient pathway", explains Benoîte Rousseau de Sevelinges, Director of the hospital. "This latest addition to our equipment is a perfect reflection of our efforts to improve the patient experience."

For Minister Christophe Robino, "AI opens up vast possibilities in terms of predictive medicine and the early detection of illnesses. This strategic investment, made possible through the generosity of Mr Dmitry Rybolovlev, to whom I'd like to extend my sincere thanks, illustrates Monaco's commitment to medical excellence at the crossroads of technological innovation and humanity, which must always guide our actions."

A unique MRI configuration.

This new SmartSpeed module is a true asset to the CHPG's imaging department; it enhances the MRI technological resources, already equipped since 2021 with HIFU, high-intensity focused ultrasound under MRI guidance for the non-invasive treatment of uterine fibroids, and is available in just two hospitals within the France-Monaco region.
