The Employment Tribunal held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 25 January 2023, bringing together all members appointed on a parity basis from the employer and employee groups.

The body, which is administratively part of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, has 48 members: 24 representing employers and 24 representing employees. Its Chair and Deputy Chair are elected every three years.

The institution, which is now 77 years old, helps to resolve conflicts between employers and employees in the private sector, and to settle trade disputes.

This last judicial year has seen a decline in the number of petitions submitted to the Court Clerk (74 compared with 83), an increase in rulings issued (from 65 to 88) and a fall in the backlog (286 cases pending on 30 September 2022, compared with 303 on 30 September 2021).

Following the General Meeting, the Chair, Michel Gramaglia, and Deputy Chair, Karim Tabchiche, welcomed the minister with responsibility for the Tribunal, Minister of Health and Social Affairs Christophe Robino, accompanied by Justice of the Peace Cyrielle Colle, who congratulated them on the work that had been achieved.
