Refurbishment of the Sea Wall in the Port of Fontvieille Arrival by Sea of "Jarlan" Caissons
Since last February, the Public Works Office has been undertaking reconstruction work in the technical area of the Port of Fontvieille, which is situated behind the sea wall (visual of the area attached).
These temporary structures (platforms) were originally built for the needs of the construction site in the outer harbour of Port Hercule. They had deteriorated and become unstable, and no longer met the required safety conditions for its operation.
Because of its usefulness for stakeholders in the port, it was decided to rebuild this technical area.
The first of the two caissons that will form the future quay in this technical area will be floated from Marseille, where it has been manufactured, and will arrive in the early morning on Monday 29 August.
The second is due to arrive the following week.
