The second roundtable about the Monaco Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai was held on Monday 20 January. Albert Croesi, Managing Director of Monaco Inter Expo (MIE), presented the Monaco Pavilion to partners and stakeholders from the worlds of politics, the economy and culture who will go out to Dubai between 20 October 2020 and 10 April 2021.

“Dubai 2020 is now just around the corner,” stressed the General Commissioner, encouraging participants to work very quickly to set the agenda for the Pavilion.

A number of personalities attended the roundtable – including H.E. Ms Mireille Pettiti, President of Monaco Inter Expo, and Ms Isabelle Bonnal, Director of Education, Youth and Sport – which provided an opportunity for an update on the progress of construction work at the Pavilion and the stages still to come (commissioning of solar panels in April, interior fittings in June, test day with visitors in mid-October 2020).

The Monaco Pavilion is made up of various stations: Penguins, Digital Transition, Portier Cove, Explorations, Tropical Corals, Interactive Bench, SMEG, and Art & Culture. It also hosts a temporary exhibition space that is open to public organisations and private companies. “This space has been designed to allow them to present displays to thousands of visitors. We’re talking about 50,000 visitors a week – that’s 1.250 million people expected to attend during the course of the Expo!” said Albert Croesi.

The Monaco Pavilion construction project involves:

  • More than 100 workers a day, with 22,000 hours worked so far
  • 108 m3 of concrete paving
  • 180 days of construction
  • 300 m2 of solar panels producing installed capacity of 51 kWp

Expo Dubai 2020 in figures:

  • 25 million visitors expected
  • 4.4 km2 in area
  • 192 participating countries
  • More than 9,000 events
