H.E. Ms Anne-Marie Boisbouvier, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of the Principality of Monaco to UNESCO, invited accredited ambassadors to UNESCO to continue celebrations launched in February 2024 to mark the 75th anniversary of Monaco’s membership in the Organisation.

Culture was centre stage with a performance by mezzo-soprano singer Cecilia Bartoli and the actor John Malkovich, an active figure on the Principality’s art scene, who were accompanied by the Monte Carlo Opera Chorus and the Musicians of the Prince.

The event, held in the plush setting of the Royal Opera at the Chateau de Versailles, was the opportunity to enjoy an artistic symbiosis between theatrical narration and musical celebration in “Their Master’s Voice”, a work that pays tribute to the castrato Farinelli and his master Porpora.

The audience was enchanted by the performance and dazzled by the immense talent of these artists, both of whom are passionate about the 18th century and whose voices were made even more beautiful by this historically rich venue.

On 6 July 1949, Monaco joined the ranks of UNESCO member nations with the objective of promoting culture, education and science on an international scale. The Permanent Delegation of Monaco to UNESCO is celebrating this 75th anniversary throughout the year with various events that highlight the international role of the Principality and showcase the many Monegasque organisations that are active in UNESCO’s fields of action.
