Role
The Institute for training in the legal professions was created within the General Secretariat of the Department of Justice by Sovereign Ordinance No. 8.609 of 12 April 2021
It is under the authority of the Secretary of Justice
The Institute is responsible for:
- Preparing candidates enrolled at the Institute, as applicable, for the competitive examination for access to the magistracy or for the bar exam
- Providing training seminars for magistrates, lawyers and defence lawyers, as well as for other legal professions
- Organising events and colloquiums on legal topics
- Participating in the dissemination of Monegasque law through the publication, in any medium, of legal reports and studies as well as court decisions
Organisation and operation
The Institute for training in the legal professions is comprised of a scientific council chaired by the Secretary of Justice, which is also comprised of, among others:
- The First President of the Court of Revision
- The First President of the Court of Appeal
- The Public Prosecutor
- The Batonnier of the Monaco Bar Association
- The Director of the Department of Legal Affairs
- Two university professors or lecturers from French law faculties appointed by Decree of the Secretary of Justice
The Secretary of Justice may occasionally add to the Scientific Council, as necessary, any qualified person who is involved or active in the field of law.
The Scientific Council meets at least once a year at the invitation of the Secretary of Justice.
