COVID-19: 29 new positive cases and 32 recoveries on Monday 16 May

Twenty-nine new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Monday 16 May.

This brings the Principality’s total coronavirus cases since the beginning of the health crisis to 12,035.

This evening, six people, including three residents, are being treated at Princess Grace Hospital. There are no patients in intensive care.

Thirty-two further recoveries have been reported, bringing the total number of people who have so far recovered to 11,922.

This Monday evening, 45 people are being monitored by the Home Patient Follow-Up Centre, which offers medical support to those with minor symptoms who are asked to self-isolate at home.

In accordance with the practices adopted by the World Health Organization and neighbouring countries in this area, this daily update reports coronavirus cases among residents only.

The Prince’s Government is also releasing figures relating to testing. These figures include data up to Sunday 15 May inclusive.

• Number of tests carried out on residents and non-residents between 09/05 and 15/05 inclusive: 1,438 PCR and antigen tests.
• Positivity rate of tests carried out on residents and non-residents: 12%.
• Incidence rate, i.e. the number of positive tests per 100,000 people over the past seven days: 207 (393 last week).

Following more than two years of uninterrupted daily press releases providing an update on the health situation in the Principality, the Prince’s Government would now like to change its approach, centralising the information on a page on the www.covid19.mc website, which will be publicly accessible from Tuesday 17 May.

Information derived directly from the ongoing monitoring of developments in the epidemic carried out by the health authorities will be posted online daily.

The aim is to enable everyone to obtain information about developments in the health situation at their convenience, while offering access to tools that allow the history of the epidemic in the Principality to be traced.

In parallel, a weekly press release will be issued for editorial offices every Monday, and will be shared on the Prince’s Government’s social media pages. This will enable those who prefer not to check a website to receive information automatically via the press or through their social media news feed.

The Prince’s Government’s management of the health crisis continue to be pragmatic and evolving. It will make changes to measures in line with developments in the spread of the virus in the Principality.
