Information Campaign : Reducing Your Alcohol Consumption Means Reducing Risks to Your Health
Once again, the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs wishes to raise public awareness of the dangers associated with alcohol consumption.
Contrary to popular belief, even low alcohol consumption can have health risks - various types of cancer, brain haemorrhages, hypertension, etc. Excessive alcohol consumption is one of the main preventable causes of mortality.
The new guidelines for alcohol consumption are:
- Do not consume more than two standard-sized glasses* per day;
- No more than ten standard-sized glasses per week;
- Have totally alcohol free days every week.
These preventive measures could reduce the health impact of alcohol.
FOR YOUR HEALTH, THE MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF ALCOHOL IS TWO GLASSES PER DAY. AND NOT EVERY DAY!
*: A standard glass = a glass of wine or champagne at 12° (10 cl) = a glass of pastis or whisky at 40/45° (2.5 cl) = an aperitif at 18° (7 cl) = a "half" of beer at 5° (25 cl)
