Handiplage re-opens: this summer, enjoy easy and safe access to the sea on Larvotto beach until 1 September 2024
Handiplage officially opened today at a ceremony attended by Christophe Robino, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, along with representatives of the National Council, City Hall, the Department of Social Welfare and Social Services, the Department of Urban Amenities and the Public Car Parks Office.
“This service is for people with disabilities as well as the elderly, but also for children and teens who need assistance to swim,” said Christophe Robino.
The Soroptimist Club Monaco has partnered with the Prince’s Government for 19 years to offer Handiplage on Larvotto beach until 1 September 2024, seven days a week, from 10 am to 6 pm during the week and from 9 am to 7 pm at weekends.
Swimmers can enjoy the pleasures and benefits of swimming with assistance from a qualified and dedicated team and Tiralo bathing wheelchairs that ensure their comfort, pleasure and safety.
Those arriving by car are entitled to three hours’ free parking in the Larvotto public car park.
New services are available this year:
- More equipment: new adapted sunbeds are available, and an accessible shower has been installed near the site.
- Longer opening hours: from 10 am to 6 pm during the week and from 9 am to 7 pm at weekends.
- An expanded six-person Handiplage team
- Improved signage around Larvotto and in the car park near the reserved spots.
