Mr Eric Arella to be appointed as Police Commissioner

On 9 September 2024, Mr Eric Arella will succeed Mr Richard Marangoni as Police Commissioner. After eight years in this position, Mr Marangoni will be moving on to become Special Adviser to the Minister of the Interior on the same date.

A police superintendent by age 23, Mr Eric Arella has had a successful career in the French national police force, including more than 37 years in the criminal investigation department. Praised by all for his professionalism and integrity, he successively held the positions of Regional Director of the Criminal Investigation Department in Ajaccio, Director of the Marseille Regional Criminal Investigation Department, and then Zonal Director of the Southern Criminal Investigation Department. In 2023, he was appointed head of the inter-directorate and departmental coordination mission of the French National Police for the construction of the new police headquarters in Marseille.

Mr Arella's vast experience, the long-standing ties forged between the Police Departments and the criminal investigation departments that he has led, along with his expertise, dynamism and determination to improve the safety and quality of life of the Monegasque population will not only be of great benefit to the Police Department but also Monaco as a whole.

During Richard Marangoni's career with the Police Department, he rose through the ranks to become Police Commissioner in February 2016. He has contributed to the development of its structure, its operating methods and its adaptability to crime and environmental changes.

Richard Marangoni's experience, particularly in human resources, will be an essential asset in his new interdisciplinary role.

The Prince's Government wishes Mr Arella and Mr Marangoni every success in their new, vital roles.
