DataDestruction: the digital data media destruction solution for critical infrastructure operators, businesses and individuals
The Monaco Cyber Security Agency has launched a local, secure project to destroy digital data media. The project seeks to offer a response to the challenges of cybercrime, industrial espionage and confidentiality for critical infrastructure operators, businesses and individuals.
The Agency is providing half of the necessary investment for this initiative. This contribution reflects the Prince’s Government’s strong commitment to digital security issues, and will facilitate straightforward access for as many people as possible.
SMA has been selected to operate the service, which is known as DataDestruction.
DataDestruction services and guarantees
DataDestruction is a service that is carried out entirely within Monaco using equipment approved by the Monaco Cyber Security Agency and a dedicated workforce. It comes with guaranteed traceability. This final processing of all types of digital media is achieved through the physical destruction of USB sticks, SSD cards, hard disks, LTO magnetic tape and optical disks, in accordance with the DIN 66399 standard. The resulting particles are completely unusable and then enter the waste electrical and electronic equipment recycling stream.
Hard disk barcodes are scanned and photographed as they enter the process so that a certificate of destruction can be given to the person who requested the media be destroyed.
In practical terms, media should be brought in to SMA. Depending on the volumes to be destroyed, it may also be possible to arrange collection of the media from site. The SMA sales team is available to provide any assistance you require with this service.
