Lancement du programme Matrice Smart-City Monaco

On 27 November, Serge Telle, the Minister of State, received the 30 Matrice students who had been selected to reflect on issues related to the Principality's digital development.

The Minister of State today welcomed 30 students from eight countries who were selected to consider the issues associated with the Principality’s digital development and to propose some innovative solutions, as part of a partnership linking Matrice (an École 42 programme) and the Government, with support from Xavier Niel. 

The Principality was keen to establish this partnership as part of its thinking about the future. The aim is to bring together students from a variety of backgrounds to consider ways to design and develop a smart city in Monaco. The first stage, a 15-day immersion period, is designed to familiarise them with the country, as they view it from a tourist’s perspective. 

Serge Telle emphasised that “digital is a key issue for the Principality and represents a unique opportunity for the country to develop in line with the values set out by H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince, such as sustainable development. It is also a chance to position Monaco as an innovative actor in the sectors which are important to us, including tourism. The programme aims to gradually develop a large number of digital opportunities, and to make Monaco a model nation in this field.” 

* École 42 is a training programme with no lessons and no teachers. It aims to impart the spirit of entrepreneurship and innovation to students, so that they will be able to come up with new and ingenious responses to the various issues that society will face in the digital era.
