New Consul of Monaco in Sydney
On 6 September 2016, at a reception given in the Australian economic capital, H.E. Ms. Catherine Fautrier, Ambassador of Monaco to Australia, presented the new Honorary Consul of Monaco to Sydney, Mr. Hadrien Bourely.
The Principality of Monaco and the Commonwealth of Australia have enjoyed consular relations since 1959, the year in which the first Honorary Consul of Monaco was appointed in Sydney. A second honorary consulate was later opened in Melbourne.
Diplomatic relations between the two countries were established in May 2007. H.E. Mr. Stephen Brady, who is currently Ambassador of Australia to Monaco, was appointed on 4 September 2014. His Monegasque counterpart, H.E. Ms. Catherine Fautrier, took up her duties in Australia on 16 June 2011.
The appointment of Mr. Hadrien Bourely ends 10 years of absence of an Honorary Consul in Sydney. This consulate covers the states of New South Wales, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Born in Monaco in 1982, Hadrien Bourely moved to Sydney 11 years ago, following a Master's at the ISC in Paris. He then pursued a career in advertising, working for some of the most renowned agencies, including Leo Burnett Sydney, Saachi & Saachi, ...
His dual Monegasque and Australian nationality (his grandmother was Australian) facilitates his sphere of activity, enabling him to broaden relations between the two countries. At his introductory presentation, the Consul had already made known his intention to develop exchanges in the environmental, cultural and sporting fields.
