PhiloMonaco Week - 11-16 June 2024
From Tuesday 11 to Sunday 16 June, the Philosophical Encounters of Monaco will host PhiloMonaco Week, featuring numerous speakers including philosophers, researchers, psychiatrists and psychologists, writers, professors and more, who will debate and speak with audiences on the topics of Ecology, Education, Care, Women and Lifestyles.
Most of the discussions, philosophy lunches, round table discussions and dialogues with the public will be held at Princess Grace Theatre, which becomes the “House of Philosophy” for the duration of the event.
Like last year, the ‘Matinales’ morning event held in partnership with Monaco Info and Monaco City Hall will be hosted by Sandrine Negre between 9.30 and 10.30 at the Condamine Market. The event will include meetings with prominent guests and discussions with the public on the event’s themes.
Co-hosted with the Monte Carlo Société des Bains de Mer, The Philosophical Encounters will be held on Saturday 15 June on the terrace of the Café de Paris and at the Hôtel Hermitage. The week will close on Sunday 16 June with a final event at the Yacht Club.
PhiloMonaco Week will feature a number of other highlights:
- Philosophy Lunches in partnership with the Monaco Multimedia Library and the Café du Théâtre at Princess Grace Theatre
- the launch of Les Jeunes philosophent (Young Philosophers) magazine for school pupils
- Philosophy snack time for children between the ages of 7 and 10.
- An evening award session to announce the winning publication, the Honourable Mention for a publishing house, and the two secondary-school winners of the Prix Lycéen.
Book signing sessions will take place at the bookshop set up in the Theatre for the occasion.
