PRINCE PIERRE OF MONACO FOUNDATION Press Release No. 4
History: It is 1919, and the Great War has just come to an end. In a castle in Courland, a region of Latvia, a young woman - a landowner - survives the upheaval of the conflict. One night, a group of volunteers from the "corps francs," comprised of soldiers and officers who had been defeated in 1918, withdrew to the castle. Conrad de Reval, brother of the lady of the castle, is part of this group, as is his childhood friend, Erich von Lhomond.
The young woman is attracted to Erich, while he expresses his tender admiration for Conrad.
