The Garden Club of Monaco, chaired by H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover, is holding the 53rd International Bouquet Competition on 15 and 16 October 2022 in the Riva Tunnel on Port Hercule.
Competitors from all over Europe are expected to take part, pitting their imaginations against each other to come up with floral compositions that are genuine works of art.
The overall theme this year will be “Colour in fashion”. Six categories will be open to everyone (amateurs and professionals) with no restrictions.
Category 1: A Chanel bag
Category 2: Saint Laurent blue and Morocco – large scale
Category 3: The haute couture of Jean-Paul Gaultier
Category 4: Christian Louboutin shoes
Category 5: Wedding hats – youth category
Category 6: A dinner with Christian Lacroix (Les Arlésiennes) – table decoration
Two juries will give their judgement on the compositions entered into the competition:
- the “special” jury, chaired by H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover and made up of personalities drawn from the worlds of literature and arts, will award the Special Prizes;
- the “official” jury, comprising international authors, judges, teachers and experts in floristry will award the Gold, Silver and Bronze Insignia, the General Grand Prize and the Princess Grace of Monaco Prize.
The exhibition will be open to the public from 6 pm to 8.30 pm on Saturday 15 October, and from 9.30 am to 6 pm on Sunday 16 October.
At 2.30 pm on Sunday 16 October, Kevin Billard, florist and decorator at the Prince’s Palace, will lead a floral demonstration on the theme of fashion, creating two floral decorations. The first will be “table decorations inspired by Dolce & Gabbana” and the second “a very special bouquet inspired by the world of Thierry Mulger”.
Free and open to all.
