The Government of Monaco submits a bill regarding the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery to the National Council for voting
This bill, which sets out the legal framework for the veterinary sector, provides the profession with specific rules to meet the needs of practitioners and their clients.
On Thursday, 7 December 2023, Act No. 1066 regarding the practice of veterinary medicine and surgery was passed by the National Council. This legislation, submitted over a year ago, was eagerly awaited by local vets.
As a result of technical and scientific developments, the veterinary profession has undergone profound changes over the last few decades. With significant advancements in the field, practitioners now offer an increasingly sophisticated service to the public while playing a widely recognised role in society.
At a time when animal welfare is a growing concern, recognising the specifics of the veterinary profession is an essential step forward.
According to Christophe Robino, "The act passed on Thursday not only provides a clear framework, but also recognises this profession in its own right, with all its specific characteristics, including a code of ethics".
