The Junior Chamber International Monaco organised a breakfast at the Meridien Beach Plaza conference centre this morning to mark the end of the summer holiday period. Minister of Health and Social Affairs Mr Stéphane Valeri was the main speaker at this early morning event focused on the implementation of teleworking in the Principality.

Accompanied by Ms Pascale Pallanca, Director of Employment, and her deputy Ms Sophie Vincent, the Minister recalled the steps that had been required to set up this new mechanism for Monegasque businesses: the adoption of the relevant legislation by the National Council on 29 June and the affiliation of teleworkers to the Monaco Social Security Funds by way of derogation from the Convention Concerning Social Welfare, thanks to an agreement between France and Monaco.

The presentation covered the practical aspects of implementing this new tool via a “Framework Arrangement”, which sets out the general operating procedures for teleworking within a company: “These are the provisions set out in the implementing ministerial decree, which is effectively like a guidance manual. To date, more than 20 companies have already held meetings with teams from the Department of Employment and established framework arrangements as a result. The first contracts are already in place at Monaco Telecom and new companies are showing interest every day. The Department of Employment is therefore at your disposal,” explained Mr Stéphane Valeri to the 160 people who attended the breakfast.

Finally, a leaflet aimed at both employees and employers was handed out at the end of the presentation. It will also be sent individually by post to each employer over the next few days.

In conclusion, Mr Stéphane Valeri asserted: “Teleworking is the future and Monaco must be a part of it. We are there now. It is up to the companies and employees of our country to make use of it.”
