On Tuesday 26 February, Didier Gamerdinger, Minister of Health and Social Affairs, and Pascale Pallanca, Director of Employment, visited the Federation of Monegasque Businesses (FEDEM) to attend the organisation’s Federal Council alongside 21 presidents of employers’ associations and FEDEM President Philippe Ortelli.

A number of topics were addressed, giving rise to some detailed and constructive discussions. These topics included:

- Bill no. 980 on regulations for night working

- Bill no. 979 on weekly rest periods for employees

- The planned consultation process for updating the acts of October and November 1944 on trade unions and the determination of criteria for union representation

- The digital services soon to be made available online by the Department of Employment in a bid to simplify and smooth the relationship with employers and employees

Didier Gamerdinger emphasised that he remained “alert to the need to involve FEDEM in current and planned reviews, in order to take into account the expectations of entrepreneurs, whose activities contribute to creating jobs and improving the Principality’s economic prosperity.”

Philippe Ortelli welcomed the quality of discussion on subjects which are vital to the country’s economic and social success, at a time when balanced legislative change is needed.
