CORONAVIRUS: Access to coast, public gardens and playground closed

With immediate effect, the Prince’s Government is banning all access to the coastline and shores of the Principality of Monaco. Below is a full list of the sites covered by this ban. 

•            The ripraps around the Monte-Carlo Sporting Club headland

•            The private beach at the Meridien Beach Plaza

•            Larvotto cove in its entirety

•            Portier cove

•            The sea walls at Port Hercule including the Lucciana breakwater, Quai Rainier III and Promenade Stefano-Casiraghi

•            Chemin des Pêcheurs, Plage des Pêcheurs and the ripraps below Chemin des Pêcheurs

•            The entirety of the eastern sea wall at Fontvieille

•            The Monegasque portion of the western sea wall at Fontvieille

As a health precaution, given that the COVID-19 virus remains active for several hours on inert surfaces, the Prince’s Government has also decided to close access to parks and public gardens, as well as the use of children’s playgrounds, until further notice.

The Prince’s Government would like to remind people that, with the exception of essential work-related travel that cannot be postponed, only brief outings, taken individually and close to home, avoiding all gatherings of people, will be allowed, and for the following reasons only:

•       to purchase supplies required for work and essential supplies from local shops and businesses that are authorised to remain open to the public

•             for health reasons

•            for critical family reasons, to assist vulnerable people or look after children

•            for individual physical exercise (all group sporting activities are prohibited) and to walk pets

The Government urges all residents to respect these measures, which are the only effective way of breaking the virus’s chain of transmission. We are all responsible for keeping everyone safe.
