Visit “The Palace Guards” exhibition until 16 February 2023 - Monaco Monte-Carlo railway station
The “Palace Guards” exhibition was installed at the Monaco Monte-Carlo railway station this weekend. Twelve photographs, dating from 1890 to 2022, are displayed in chronological order. The exhibition will run until 16 February 2023.
Organised in partnership with SNCF Hubs & Connexions and Clear Channel, the exhibition gives passengers an opportunity to discover or rediscover the Palace Guards and learn how the unit has developed in terms of its composition and mission since it was first created.
The history of the Palace Guards is closely intertwined with the history of Monaco and its royal family. This prestigious military unit, which is 124 guards strong, provides everyday security for the Prince’s Palace and ensures the safety of the Royal Family, its assets and its dependencies. The provision of honour guard services is also an integral part of the Palace Guards’ routine activities. The unit’s motto, “Honour, Loyalty and Devotion”, gives meaning to the commitment demonstrated by the Guards on a daily basis.
With more than 7 million users per year, the railway station is one of the main points of entry to the Principality. Its exhibition walls offer a way to communicate Monaco’s heritage and share it with a wide audience. The station is currently making the walls available to enable the history of the Palace Guards to be told beyond the unit’s own museum.
