U.S. FBI & Monaco’s Direction de la Sûreté Publique Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America and the Direction de la Sûreté Publique of the Principality of Monaco have signed on June 17, 2024, in the presence of Patrice CELLARIO, Government Advisor-Minister of the Interior and David R. McCawley, Deputy Head of Mission at the United States Embassy in Paris, a memorandum of understanding that will lead to a formal intelligence cooperation and exchange of information pertaining to the security of the two states.
Mr. Jarrad Smith, the Legal Attaché at the United States Embassy in Paris said, “This memorandum will help the United States and Monaco work together to mitigate security threats and disrupt the capabilities of criminal organizations and hostile state actors.”
Mr. Richard Marangoni, General Controller of Direction de la Sûreté Publique said, "The signing of the agreement perpetuates a long-standing and efficient cooperation with the FBI in a context of protean international threats. The exchange of information for a cosmopolitan country like Monaco is essential."
Monaco and the United States exchanged their first consular agents in the years following the U.S. Civil War. Since then, they have shared a strong commitment to international cooperation in addressing some of the world’s greatest challenges.
