Monaco attends the 91st INTERPOL General Assembly in Vienna
The 91st General Assembly of INTERPOL took place in Vienna, Austria from 28 November to 1 December 2023. The Principality was represented by a delegation led by Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, and composed of Richard Marangoni, Police Commissioner and Head of the INTERPOL Monaco National Central Bureau; Jean-François Mirigay, Head of the Criminal Investigation Division; and Olivier Jude, Head of the Section for International Cooperation and Combatting Cybercrime.
The Principality of Monaco, which established the first international criminal police conference in 1914, paid tribute to INTERPOL and its initiatives. The organisation celebrates its centenary in 2023. International cooperation between police services has become a key part of efforts to put criminals behind bars.
Work has focused on implementing all the tools necessary to build an international police force, mandated to identify and arrest criminals via wide-ranging operations against organised crime, drug trafficking, human trafficking, terrorist financing and cybercrime.
The role of INTERPOL’s National Central Office in Monaco remains essential in preventing crimes and misdemeanours: in 2023, operational exchanges resulted in numerous arrests in the framework of international cooperation.
INTERPOL is the world’s largest international police organisation, with 194 member countries. It enables police around the globe to work together to make the world a safer place.
