H.S.H. Princess Stéphanie, Patron of the Palace Guards, presented the Corps insignia, in the presence of Colonel Tony Varo, Superior Commander of the Military Force, to the five Palace Guards students of the "Romain Caubère*" class. This military ceremony was held yesterday on the helicopter landing zone of the Moneghetti barracks.

After a welcome from Commander Martial Pied, Head of the Palace Guards, and a military inspection, the Palace Guards’ Flag was presented to the young recruits, who were then handed their corps insignia from the patron, and blessed by Father Christian Venard, Chaplain of the Military Force. The Ceremony was closed by the Orchestra of the Palace Guards and all the soldiers with a rendition of the Monegasque national anthem.

The candidates will soon swear an oath to H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince and His Family, pledging to serve them with "Honour, Loyalty, and Devotion", in keeping with the Corps' motto. They will perform their duties this weekend at the F1 Grand Prix.

* Romain Caubère, number 302, is a Palace Guard who died for France on October 6, 1915. He is buried in the national necropolis of the Ferme de Suippes in the Marne, tomb n°1717.
