New bike lane connects La Condamine to Larvotto
The Louis II tunnel, which has been re-pedestrianised after work on the Spéluges pillars, will now also accommodate cyclists safely starting on 16 November 2023.
As part of its efforts to promote alternative modes of travel, the Government has decided to create a new bicycle lane in the Louis II Tunnel, in the direction of Menton and linking the Condamine district to the Larvotto distict.
In the opposite direction, cyclists and personal transporters will share the normal lane with motorists, as the width of the tunnel does not accommodate the creation of a second bicycle lane.
With this new 430-metre cycle lane, there are, in total, nearly 6 km of lanes for cyclists in the Principality.
It should be remembered that the wearing of helmets is mandatory for under 18s and strongly recommended for everyone else. In addition to helmets for under 18s, those riding electric scooters must also wear retroreflective clothing or devices.
