Rainier III Tunnel: Construction of New Emergency Tunnel - Test Blasting Schedule
As part of work to bore an emergency tunnel for the Rainier III Tunnel, test blasting is required.
These test blasts will provide an understanding of the terrain, required for the future boring of the emergency tunnel. They will be carried out from the tunnel at a depth of approximately 60 metres below the surface. No vibrations should be felt.
The tests are scheduled to take place between 9 am and 12 pm on Thursday 21 November 2019.
The tunnel will need to be closed to traffic five times during preparation and the tests themselves, lasting between 15 and 30 minutes each time.
