United Nations Monaco participates in Security Council open debate on youth, peace and security
H.E. Ms Isabelle Picco, Monaco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, spoke at a Security Council debate on youth, peace and security on Monday 23 April. She championed the contribution of the universal language of sports to participation, protection, prevention and partnerships.
The Ambassador recalled the work carried out by the Peace and Sport organisation, which has been supporting programmes across five continents since 2007 and has a network of champions for peace.
Speakers also welcomed the publication of the Simpson report, which offers a striking insight into the long road still ahead in terms of efforts to mobilise the tremendous potential of young people, who are often the victims of armed conflict and largely absent from peace and conflict resolution processes.
