Monaco participates in UN Economic and Financial Committee discussions
H.E. Ms Isabelle Picco, the Principality of Monaco’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, took part in the general debate of the UN Economic and Financial Committee in New York on 2 October 2017. During the debate, the Ambassador reaffirmed that the Prince’s Government is committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
H.E. Ms Picco highlighted the significant efforts undertaken by the Principality in the field of research and development. She recalled that Monaco, which has established organisations that aim to promote sustainable industrial development, supports innovative projects, including in the IT and communications, health, and environment sectors, and also offers financing solutions specifically tailored to innovation.
On 17 July this year, the Minister of State presented the Principality’s national voluntary review on implementation of the SDGs during the High-Level Political Forum meeting. The choices Monaco has made on transport and water and waste management, and its efforts to protect the environment, make the country a recognised player in promoting sustainable development.
