Monaco is Showcased at the Second CIIE
On Thursday 7 November, the second CIIE - China International Import Expo – opened to professionals in Shanghai. A delegation from the Embassy of Monaco in China, as well as ten or so businesses, all brought together by the Monaco Economic Board, gathered at Monaco's Pavilion to present the Principality's economic advantages to visitors.
H.E. Ms. Catherine Fautrier, Ambassador of Monaco to China, was also present at the signing of a contract to sell part of the FRIMO company's capital to the Chinese company BAIYANG.
The CIIE, the aim of which is to make China an essential platform for world trade, was opened on 5 November by President XI Jinping before an audience of high-level dignitaries, Heads of State, Ministers and foreign Ambassadors. H.E. Ms. Catherine Fautrier represented the Principality at this official opening.
In his speech, President XI Jinping emphasised the need to build a more cooperative global economy, based on dialogue and cooperation. He said, "We need to join hands with each other instead of letting go of each other's hands. We need to tear down walls, not to erect walls."
155 countries, 26 international organisations and 3,893 businesses are taking part in this second CIIE event, which continues until 10 November, with "A new era, a shared future" as its main theme.
