Monaco chairs Hamilton Shirley AmerasingheFellowship on the Law of the Sea Advisory Panel
On 25 January 2018, Florian Botto, Third Secretary at Monaco’s Permanent Representation to the United Nations in New York, chaired the Advisory Panel for the Hamilton Shirley AmerasingheFellowship on the Law of the Sea. Greece, Ireland and Sri Lanka were also represented on the panel.
The panel chose Vanessa Arellano, a civil servant in Ecuador’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The fellowship will enable the recipient to deepen her knowledge of the legal framework applicable to archipelagos and the development of marine protected areas.
In accordance with the wishes of His Serene Highness the Sovereign Prince, the Principality has, for a number of years, contributed to training specialists in the law of the sea.
It is also worth noting that Monaco Explorations will soon be visiting the Galapagos Islands.
