Monaco at the 12th Environment and Energy Conclave in Kolkata
At the invitation of the Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Mr Patrick Médecin, Monaco’s Ambassador to India, took part in the 12th Environment and Energy Conclave on 29 August in Kolkata.
H.E. Mr Médecin’s participation in the event, which provided an opportunity to deepen bilateral relations between the two countries, follows on from H.S.H. Prince Albert II’s official visit to India in February, when a cooperation agreement was signed between the Prince’s Foundation and TERI – The Energy and Resources Institute.
During the conclave in Kolkata, H.E. Mr Médecin gave a presentation to nearly 400 chief executives and policymakers from Bengal on the various sustainable development actions being taken by the Principality of Monaco and the Prince Albert II Foundation at the behest of H.S.H. the Sovereign Prince.
In particular, he spoke about the measures that the Prince’s Government is taking in the construction and transport sectors to achieve the ambitious greenhouse gas reduction targets that it has set. The Ambassador recalled that, since it was founded, the Prince Albert II Foundation has funded more than 480 projects throughout the world in partnership with more than 170 local organisations. Finally, he cited some of the flagship initiatives undertaken by the Prince at the international level, including on protecting the oceans and hosting specialist international conferences in the Principality.
In his conclusion, H.E. Mr Médecin mentioned the Tourist and Convention Authority’s “Green Is the New Glam” campaign.
