Baroque concert at Monaco’s Embassy in Italy
A baroque concert at Monaco’s Embassy in Rome shone a spotlight on composer Francesco Onofrio Manfredini (1684–1762), precentor for Prince Antoine I.
Furiosi Affetti, a musical ensemble from Rome, gave a performance dedicated entirely to the Italian musician, who was born and died in Pistoia. Manfredini was appointed by Prince Antoine I as his precentor and lived in Monaco from 1711 to 1728.
Many of his compositions are excellent and well worth discovering or rediscovering. The instrumentalists of Furiosi Affetti, who are also musicologists, gave an erudite and sensitive interpretation of the works featured on the programme.
The ensemble will perform a concert dedicated to Manfredini’s works on 7 April 2019 in the Salle des Variétés.
