At the invitation of the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Nouveau Musée National de Monaco (NMNM), members of the press had an opportunity to visit an artist’s studio and meet Guillaume Aubry, artist and architect in residence, who gave a presentation of his work.

International artists have taken up regular residence in these artists’ studios since 2016, some at the invitation of the NMNM. The latter are able to immerse themselves in their work while at the studios, engaging in both educational projects (with support from the Department of Education, Youth and Sport) and creative or exhibition projects.

The visit was also a chance for Françoise Gamerdinger, Director of Cultural Affairs, to note that in regularly allocating these studios, the Government’s aim was to support creativity by allowing artists to develop their projects in the Principality.

Björn Dahlström, Director of the NMNM, highlighted the example of Guillaume Aubry, who initially took up residence to carry out several school visits to talk about his approach to collecting sunsets and, in parallel, designed the future Café at Villa Paloma.
