Second Chapter of the Exhibition Welcome (To The Teknival) by Kasper Akhøj
Villa Sauber – New National Museum of Monaco
Since 2 June, the Villa Sauber has been hosting an exhibition of photographs by Kasper Akhøj, "Welcome (To The Teknival)," on the subject of the Villa E-1027 at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. New photographs taken by the artist in July 2017 have just been added to the exhibition, bringing work that was begun in 2008 to a close. The public can now therefore admire 63 photos, hung in a lively manner, which echo the portfolio taken by the architect Eileen Gray during the construction of the Villa E-1027 in 1929.
In the video room of the Villa Sauber, Kasper Akhøj is also presenting a new film entitled C2RMF75602, produced by the NMNM, which retraces the restoration of a 16th century painting, Portrait of a Woman, attributed to Titian.
This 16 mm film forges wonderful links with Welcome (To The Teknival); the two works pose many questions on conserving and restoring heritage.
