Presentation of the Department of Cultural Affairs summer season

Monaco's Department of Cultural Affairs summer season was presented to the press, with Mr Patrice Cellario, Minister of the Interior, Mrs Françoise Gamerdinger, Director of Cultural Affairs for Monaco, and Mr Julien Burle, Deputy Director, all in attendance.

The International Organ Festival will present five concerts from 25 June to 16 July 2023, including an exceptional opening concert, which is part of the Prince Rainier III centenary celebrations. Each performance piece was commissioned and composed to mark highlights in the life of Prince Rainier III. Maurice Duruflé's Requiem will be performed in memoriam by the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, on what is their first visit to the Principality.

From 4 July to 1 August 2023, eight outdoor evening events will be held at the Théâtre du Fort Antoine.

Once again, this year, the public will be able to discover original creations: multidisciplinary shows combining theatre and music, solo performances which are touching, sometimes quirky and often funny, tender and poetic, and a concert by Arthur H.

For the first time, the Organ Festival will be invited to Fort Antoine to host an interactive musical show for the general public, and on 18 July, an Open Stage will be organised for young talents, to share their passion on the Fort Antoine stage.

Among the highlights of the Prince Rainier III centenary celebrations, the Department of Cultural Affairs is presenting the exhibition “Rainier III, The builder Prince. An ambition for Monaco”, from 20 July to 31 December 2023, at the Quai Antoine 1er exhibition hall. Curated by Stéphane Bern, journalist and columnist, and Christian Curau, architect and curator of The Prince's Palace of Monaco, the exhibition will showcase how Prince Rainier III was a man of both historical continuity and innovation. The Prince’s approach to town planning was revolutionary; his sole motivation was to guarantee the prosperity and well-being of the people of Monaco, to whom he was equally bonded by affection as much as a constitutional oath.

As part of the celebrations, the Rainier III Sculpture Trail was launched on 31 May, offering walkers the chance to discover an open-air museum of almost 150 sculptures. Visitors can find the artworks on an interactive map and can discover more information about the sculptures and artists using the QR codes displayed nearby. This project was led by the Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Heritage Institute, the Department of Urban Amenities and the Interministerial Delegation for Digital Transition of Monaco.
